Domestic Violence: From Both Sides (D107)

Description
Domestic violence can play a complicated role in child welfare cases. When a parent is determined to be a perpetrator of domestic violence, it can often be a difficult barrier to reunification; when a parent is determined to be a victim of domestic violence, the Department can often use the parent's victim status as a reason for removal. In this course, participants will learn the legal statutes and WACs that govern domestic violence and domestic violence treatment. Participants will be introduced to Department policy around domestic violence assessment and how this impacts dependency cases. Participants will also receive expert guidance on when parents should receive services around domestic violence and when such services are not appropriate.
