Committed to Family Unification: PRP Social Workers (A110)

Description

OPD's Parents Representation Program Social Workers are one of the most important parts of the multi-disciplinary team that we have to best represent parents in dependency and termination cases. PRP Social Workers work as an agent of the defense attorney and can provide critical support, including assisting with accessing services and resources, providing moral and emotional support to the parent, providing recommendations for experts, and much more. In this course, participants will learn about the role of the PRP Social Worker, the support PRP Social Workers receive from OPD, and the history of racism that has shaped the way social work is practiced to date. Participants will learn about the standards that govern PRP Social Workers, including mandatory reporting policies. Participants will also learn about OPD's expert services policies and DCYF's concrete goods policies.
